For my luxury lovers, regardless of the economy, Gucci
creative director, Alessandro Michele, is inspiring men with
some new ways and styles of wearing his pieces and
menswear pieces
in general.
It all started during his Fall 2016 runway show, where models
rocked baggy jeans tucked into big cable-knit socks and
seriously embroidered, bell-bottomed velour track suits. In
addition, contemporary pieces such as grosgrain “neck bow”
for $135 and jeans covered in floral appliqués for over $2,000
are available on the Gucci website.
The average Nigerian obviously thinks this is a waste of
money. However, when you study Michele’s personal style,
you start to understand the direction Gucci » is moving in.
Michele is very different from his colleagues like Raf Simons
or Alexander Wang , who enjoy simplistic daily styles or Rick
Owens and Jeremy Scott type who are always decked out in
straight off the runway attires.
Michele appears to be somewhere in between, with his T-
shirts and dad jeans, but then he’ll switch things up by
throwing an out-of-place embroidered jacket or a pair of fur-
lined slides to the mix.
He may go a totally different direction while on the red carpet,
otherwise, he’s just another dude going about his everyday
life. Although he may be wearing the most expensive version
of the simplest clothes available. And that’s exactly what
Gucci is going for; subtle signature pieces to compliment a
minimal look not an over the top, head-to-toe Gucci monster.
